Las Vegas in One Day: An Hour-by-Hour Itinerary

Morning: 8am-noon

Start at 8am with breakfast at Peppermill on the north Strip — the fireside lounge is open 24 hours and the skillets are honest food before the crowds arrive. By 9:30 walk or rideshare to the Bellagio Conservatory, which changes seasonally and is free. Cross to the Cosmopolitan for the Chandelier Bar photo (yes, in daylight), then wander through the Aria and Waldorf lobbies for the art walk. This stretch of Center Strip is walkable inside if it is over 100F outside, which from May to September it usually is.

By 11am head to the High Roller observation wheel at the LINQ. Daytime tickets run around $25 and the 30-minute rotation gives you the full valley layout — Red Rock to the west, Frenchman Mountain to the east. Skip the happy-hour drink pod on a one-day trip; you need the time.

Afternoon and evening: noon-10pm

Lunch at Yardbird in the Venetian for Southern food that actually earns its price, or Secret Pizza on the third floor of the Cosmopolitan for a $5 slice. Spend 1-3pm inside the Venetian and Palazzo — the canal, St. Mark's Square replica, and the Shoppes are worth an unhurried loop. At 3pm rideshare to Fremont Street Downtown ($20-25). Walk under the Viva Vision canopy, poke into the Golden Nugget shark tank, and stop at Atomic Liquors, the oldest freestanding bar in Vegas.

Dinner at 6:30 at Esther's Kitchen in the Arts District — book two weeks out. Back to the Strip by 9pm for the Bellagio fountains (every 30 minutes, every 15 after 8pm) and a nightcap at the Chandelier.

Where to sleep

Stay Center Strip so the day works on foot. The Cosmopolitan, Vdara, or Park MGM all put you inside the Bellagio-Aria-Cosmo triangle. If you are watching money, the LINQ or Flamingo are the same walk radius for roughly half the room rate. Do not stay off-Strip on a one-day trip — you will lose an hour each way to traffic on Las Vegas Boulevard between 4pm and 7pm.
